Golf Betting Tip – 2016 BMW PGA Championship

BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth has always been regarded as the flagship event on the European Tour schedule, but this year has arguably attracted a substandard field without the likes of Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson, Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose.

The key holes around the beefed up West Course are the ultra tough Par 4 first and third holes, and the final two holes, which can offer genuine chances of an eagle but can just as easily wreck a scorecard. The key attributes required to tame this layout are good strategic approach play and the ability if required, to handle the deceptive Wentworth winds and also to read these notoriously difficult putting surfaces.

Russell Knox 16/1 E/W Paddy Power (7 Places)

Despite any previous course experience, the other selection goes to the American based Scotsman Russell Knox, who was denied a victory in Ireland last week only by a piece of sheer brilliance by Rory Mac. The unassuming Scot who currently stands third in the Fed-Ex rankings impressed me enormously first hand in the Irish Open, not only by his solid all round play, but also by his on-course demeanor, particularly on a trying first day. I would mark up his Tied 2nd finish even further by the fact he was definitely on the wrong side of the draw at the K Club and he certainly coped admirably with no previous course experience in Ireland. He joined the European Tour solely to help him make this year’s Ryder Cup team so expect another motivated performance in this big money event. His straight hitting and solid iron play (4th in GIR last week) look tailor made for the West Course.
