Golf Betting Tips – BMW PGA Championship
Golf betting tips for the BMW PGA Championship. Golf junkies will be purring in anticipation, as the famous West Course at Wentworth again takes center stage for this years renewal of the prestigous BMW PGA Championship. This tournament is very much the flagship event on the European Tour schedule, and has duly attracted its usual strong field despite the late withdrawal of Rory Mcllroy with a rib injury. The event also heralds the start of the eight mega bucks tournaments which make up the new Rolex Series on the European Tour.
The classic Par 72,7,284yd parkland track was originally the creation of legendary golf architect Harry Colt, but in recent years the course has undergone a variety of revamps including another major one since last years renewal. The hugely controversial putting surfaces have all been re-laid and reseeded with a new creeping bent, improving both the appearance and playability of the surfaces. A dozen or so bunkers have also been removed from the layout, so expect a slightly different look about the West Course this year. Defending champion Chris Wood played the new look course three weeks ago and was extremely complimentary about the new greens, particularly how true the ball ran in comparison to the previous uneven surfaces.

The key holes around this layout, are the ultra tough Par 4 first and third holes, and the final two holes, which can offer genuine eagle chances, but can just as easily wreck a scorecard. The 18th hole in particular will provide plenty of thrills and spills, with its somewhat controversial revamped island green, so in running punters beware. The main requisites required to tame this course, are accuracy from the tee and definitely course experience, as blustery conditions around this tree lined layout make it extremely difficult for the players and caddies to pick the right club. Luckily hot and sunny conditions are forecast for the week, with only breezes of around 10mph for the weekend.
The main golf betting tip this week goes to Francesco Molinari, who arrives here off the back of a Tied 6th place finish in the recent high quality Players Championship at Sawgrass. The 34 year old Italian who now plies his trade almost exclusively over the pond, he has had a really solid year on the PGA Tour with four top 10 finishes in only thirteen starts. He has a great record around this layout with four top 10 finishes in the last five years, and he must arrive here full of confidence for this high profile gig. The course rewards straight hitting and accurate iron play, so with both boxes well and truly ticked for the Italian, expect another bold showing on a track that sets up perfectly for him.
The second golf tip this week goes to the powerful South Korean Byeong Hun An, who is another golfer who has been campaigning largely on the PGA Tour this year. The Florida based 2015 winner of this event has been showing some improved form of late with a Tied 8th place in the Wells Fargo Championship in his penultimate start, and another strong performance in the AT&T Byron Nelson last week. He overpowered the course and the field with a runaway success on his first appearance here in 2015, so in similar weather conditions there is every chance he could well be in the mix again.
The last of the golf tips this week is Alex Noren, who showed last year with his four win haul on the European Tour, that he certainly can get it over the line when it matters. The amiable Swede has started to appear on leaderboards in recent weeks on the PGA Tour, giving the impression he could well be peaking for this high profile outing in Surrey. His previous form around here has been patchy, but a Tied 8th in 2015 at least shows his pronounced fade game can act around this track. Having witnessed first hand his win in the British Masters at The Grove last year, he has shown he can be lethal with the flat stick. If he takes to these greens, he should go well. With no doubts about his bottle, lets hope he makes it win number nine in the Wentworth sun this week.
