Next stop on the European Tour is the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, which this year returns to the picturesque Castle Stuart Golf Links, near Inverness. With stunning views over the Moray Firth, this 7193yd Par 72  links track has previously hosted this high-quality event between 2011 and 2013. The tournament gives the assembled field a perfect opportunity to fine-tune their links game for next week’s Open Championship at Royal Troon.

The Castle Stuart Golf Links was only opened in 2009 and is a very exposed track laid out on two levels with seven holes on the lower level, bordering the Firth. The fairways are fairly generous and the course features two reachable Par 4s, with a real risk and reward Par 5 finishing hole. The forecast is very mixed with plenty of wind forecast all four days, so this week’s predictions are players with a links pedigree and the ability to handle windy conditions.

Free Golf Betting Tips for the Scottish Open

Branden Grace 14/1 E/W Coral The nap is awarded to the links maestro Branden Grace who was beaten in a play-off by Phil Mickelson in the 2013 renewal at this venue. The South African who broke his maiden tag on the PGA Tour earlier this year at the RBC Heritage was brought up on the Fancourt Links and makes no secret of the fact that he is very comfortable playing this form of golf. He has plenty of stellar links form in the book with a victory in the 2012 Alfred Dunhill Links and back to back wins in Doha at the 2015 and 2016 Qatar Masters, where links exponents have such a great record. He arrives here in great form after a Tied 5th place finish in the recent US Open at Hazeltine and a Tied 10th place finish in the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational last week. Nicolas Colsaerts 45/1 E/W Paddy Power (7 places 1/5 the odds). A player who looks decent each-way value in this competitive field is the big-hitting Nicolas Colsaerts. The Belgian Bomber has shown a welcome return to form recently after a largely disappointing 2015 season, including a Tied 3rd in the Mauritius Open and a 3rd place finish in the Nordea Masters. He has course form having finished Tied 3rd in 2011 and Tied 8th in 2013, and these generous fairways set up perfectly for his ultra-aggressive style of play. The Sunday night Exchange sharks have snaffled up the bigger prices but there is still enough value to recommend a bet this week, especially with extra places being offered by a few of the layers.
