Grand National Tips – Free Horse Racing Tips for 2016 Grand National
The 2016 Crabbie’s Grand National has to go down as one of the classiest renewals held in recent years. Highlighted by the fact that dual King George Chase winner Silviniaco Conti does not even head the weights, that honour going to last year’s hero Many Clouds who will attempt to become the first back-to-back winner of the famous race since te great Red Rum back in 1973/74.
As well as the two horses at the top of the handicap there are several other entries who boast form at the highest level. The Willie Mullins pair of Boston Bob and Sir Des Champs are both capable of going close if running up to something like their best form but it is the Jonjo O’Neill-trained Holywell who is a strong fancy at the 16-1 available with Coral (each way 5 places).
The nine-year-old reserves his best for this time of the year and following several below-par efforts earlier in the season returned to something like his best at the Cheltenham Festival beating all bar the classy, well handicapped, Un Temps Pour Tout in the Ultima Handicap Chase. A ten-length winner from top chaser Don Cossack as a novice as well as a number of other creditable efforts, including fourth place in last year’s Gold Cup, puts the mount of Richie McLernon into the race with a massive chance off just 10st 12lb. Described by O’Neill as “a bit of a monkey”, Holywell’s ability to act on the unique course poses a slight doubt but if taking to the Aintree fences the son of Gold Well is the one they all have to beat.
