Horse Racing Tip – 2.50 Goodwood 30-04-16

The Mick Channon stable has got off to a pretty good start this season but the well handicapped Lincoln failed to take advantage of a favourable mark at Haydock last Saturday for connections, suffering a nightmare passage on the rails under apprentice Paddy Pilley, eventually coming home in eleventh place and full of running.

The son of Clodovil was running off a mark of 104 last summer following a cracking effort when finishing a half-length second to the progressive Speculative Bid in Ascot’s Victoria Cup 12 month’s ago, 4lb lower than the five-year-old will be expected to carry in Goodwood’s 2.50 on Saturday afternoon, a reproduction of which should make the mount of Charles Bishop very hard to beat in the seven-furlong contest.

Lincoln’s form tailed off after a close third in a Newmarket Group 3 race last June, but an eye-catching run at Haydock run last weekend suggested that the gelding is about to hit form again, making the 7-1 available with William Hill excellent value.

Solar Flair and Exchequer have been in good form of late and should run well but bottom weight and decisive Nottingham scorer Sinfonietta looks the biggest danger, especially if there is plenty of give in the ground at Goodwood.
