Stuart Edmunds has made a promising start to his training career and the three hurdling victories achieved by Wolf Of Windlesham, including a Grade 2 contest at Cheltenham plus a Sandown win on the final day of the Jumps season, have showcased how this talented handler is capable of mixing it with the very best of his profession.

The winner of a handicap at Kempton back in March Wolf Of Windlesham will be having his first start on turf at Goodwood on Thursday afternoon since finishing third at Chepstow on his second start for Edmunds last September. That effort was over a mile and a half but stepping up to two miles on Kempton’s all-weather surface the four-year-old appreciated the stamina test to run out a comfortable  five-length winner.

Despite a rise of 10lb the son of Mastercraftsman can follow up in the Construction Day Stakes, helped by the 5lb allowance of promising claimer Hector Crouch. Another horse who has enjoyed a successful hurdling campaign – Rayvin Black – looks the chief danger to the selection after making all on the course last month, albeit off a 8lb lower mark. Fitzwilly and All For The Best are also capable of going well but off joint bottom weight, Wolf Of Windlesham should take all the beating.
