Stratford stage their big hunter chase meeting on Friday evening with the highlight being the 58th running of the Pertemps Network Stratford Foxhunters Champion Hunter Chase at 7.50pm. Eight horses are set to fight it out for the £25k extended 3m 3f chase which can go to the Warren Greatrex-trained Paint The Clouds.

The mount of top amateur Jamie Codd has to have decent ground to produce his best form so excels at this time of the year and on the expected good to firm conditions the eleven-year-old can take this  contest for the second time in three years.

The winner in 2014, Paint The Clouds failed by just a head to hold the inspired-ridden Moroman twelve month’s ago in an effort to win back-to-back renewals, and is strongly fancied to go one better this time following a creditable close third in the Cheltenham Foxhunters at the Festival.

One place in front on that occasion was the Irish-trained Marito who again looks the chief threat to the selection. Both horses met more recently at Punchestown when the Irish runner once more came out on top, filling the runner-up spot behind leading hunter On The Fringe with Paint The Clouds back in fifth place.

The yielding ground at that festival failed to suit the son of Muhtarram but back to his ideal conditions and on a favoured left-handed track Paint The Clouds can gain revenge on his old rival. Pacha Du Polder may fill the places for leading trainer Paul Nicholls.
