Horse Racing Tip July Cup
With bookmakers going 5-1 the field, this Saturday’s Group 1 Darley July Cup at Newmarket looks an open affair. Three Royal Ascot winners, Profitable, Quiet Reflection and Twilight Son are taking each other on for the title of champion sprinter. But, the tip is a horse that gave the Royal Meeting a wide berth, due to the soft conditions, who he can prove himself to be the best in Europe over this weekend’s trip of six furlongs, namely the Henry Candy-trained Limato.
The race has so far eluded the master of sprinters but Candy has a strong hand being responsible for both Diamond Jubilee Stakes winner Twilight Son along with Limato. The tip has not been seen since failing to last home in Newbury's Lockinge Stakes over a mile back in May.
The son of Tagula was trying that trip for the first time and looked the likely winner until stamina became an issue in the closing stages. So dropping back two furlongs at headquarters should prove ideal for the four-year-old especially with his favoured fast ground looking more than likely.
Limato has looked outstanding when conditions have proved ideal, most notably when storming away with Doncaster's Park Stakes last September. A reproduction of that form may prove too good for the talented filly Quiet Reflection and stablemate Twilight Son leaving Magical Memory, who may have been given too much to do at Ascot, set to follow the selection home.
