Horse RacingTip – 3.30 Fakenham 03-05-16
With both Guineas now behind us and the unique pleasures of Chester to look forward to this week, the action taking place on a quiet Tuesday can only be described as moderate. While Flat racing is set to take place at both Brighton and Catterick the most valuable contest of the day is the £20k Norfolk National at Fakenham which can go the way of the Jennie Candlish-trained Grove Silver.
The lightly-raced seven-year-old has yet to open his account in eight attempts over fences but boasts some creditable efforts when stamina has been at a premium. The 3m 5f trip should hold no fears for the son of Gamut who is now 2lb lower than when finishing third behind Henry Parry Morgan over an inadequate three miles at Chepstow back in February.
In receipt of only 6lb and with that horse going on to finish second in a Grade 1 novice chase at Aintree the form looks rock solid. Off a mark of only 114 at Fakenham the mount of Sean Quinlan should take plenty of beating against a field of exposed staying chasers. Joint top weights Thomas Wild and Prideofthecastle along with the lightly-weighted thorough stayer Finish The Story can follow the selection home.
