Leicester City take on Middlesbrough in the Premier League on Saturday. Read the match predictions to find out why a draw is the betting tip at King Power Stadium. Leicester were in Champions League action this week and booked their place in the last 16 with a 2-1 victory over Club Brugge. Meanwhile, Middlesbrough played well in a 0-1 loss at home to Chelsea on Sunday and will be looking to build on that performance here.

Leicester City vs Middlesbrough Preview

Leicester have Danny Drinkwater out with a suspension and Nampalys Mendy is injured. Claudio Ranieri is likely to field Andy King and Daniel Amartey in central midfield in their absence. Kasper Schmeichel remains sidelined with a hand injury and this game will come too soon for injured striker Islam Slimani.

Middlesbrough will be without left-back George Friend for a while after he picked up a nasty knee injury. With Fabio out of form,  Aitor Karanka may move Antonio Barragan to left-back and bring Nsue in to cover on the right. Alvaro Negredo is still stuck on 3 goals but will continue up-front for the visitors.

Team Predictions Leicester City vs Middlesbrough

Leicester 4-4-2 formation: Zieler; Fuchs, Morgan, Huth, Hernandez; Alnrighton, Amartey, King, Schlupp; Vardy, Okazaki

Middlesbrough 4-2-3-1 formation: Valdes; Barragan, Gibson, Chambers, Nsue; Clayton, Forshaw; Downing, Ramirez, Traore; Negredo

  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Middlesbrough have scored an average of 0.7 goals and conceded an average of 1.1 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Leicester’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of Middlesbrough’s previous 10 matches

Leicester City vs Middlesbrough Prediction

As good as Leicester have been in Europe, their domestic form has suffered. They drew 1-1 against an underperforming Tottenham side 3 games back and have lost both Premier League games since. Claudio Ranieri was clearly disappointed to lose 1-2 at home to West Bromwich Albion and that disappointment turned to anger when the Foxes were undone in a 2-1 defeat away to Watford.

Middlesbrough put together a good run of results before the international break, starting with a meritorious 0-0 draw away to an in-form Arsenal side. They then beat Bournemouth 2-0 at home and snatched a last-gasp 1-1 draw away at Manchester City. Aitor Karanka’s men ensured Chelsea were in a game last time out and will be tough for the hosts to break down here.

Leicester aren’t quite getting the rub of the green as they often did last season and the lack of goals from Jamie Vardy is becoming a concern. Middlesbrough need to start turning draws into wins, if they are to beat the drop but this has the feel of a stalemate. I think both teams will score to cancel each other out.
