Leicester City play host to Sevilla in a live Champions League Round of 16 2nd Leg clash on Tuesday night. Read the match predictions to find out why a home win the betting tip at King Power Stadium. The tie is delicately poised at 1-2 after the Foxes clinched a crucial away goal in Spain, so it’s all to play for and a gripping match is anticipated.

Leicester City vs Sevilla Preview

Leicester will stick with the 4-4-2 formation that has served them so well in recent weeks. Kaspar Schmeichel saved a penalty in the first leg and will be hoping for a quieter night on home soil where Leicester are unbeaten in this competition. The home side have Islam Slimani as the only doubt, so new boss Gary Shakespeare can name a full strength side.

Sevilla are still without long-term absentees Benoît Trémoulinas and Michael Krohn-Dehli. Jorge Sampaoli has an otherwise fully-fit squad and centre back Gabriel Mercado is also back from a one-match ban. The head coach will be mindful that his players have only registered one away Champions League goal this season and Stevan Jovetic is tasked with leading the line for the visitors.

Team Predictions Leicester City vs Sevilla

Leicester 4-4-2 formation: Schmeichel; Fuchs, Huth, Morgan, Simpson; Albrighton, Drinkwater, Ndidi, Mahrez; Vardy, Okazaki

Sevilla 4-2-3-1 formation: Rico; Escudero, Rami, Mercado, Mariano; N’Zonzi, Iborra; Vitolo, Nasri, Sarabia; Jovetic

Leicester City vs Sevilla Betting Tips

  • Leicester have won 2 drawn 2 and lost 6 of their last 10 matches
  • Sevilla have won 6 drawn 3 and lost 1 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Leicester have scored an average of 1.0 goals and conceded an average of 1.7 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Sevilla have scored an average of 1.5 goals and conceded an average of 1.0 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Leicester’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Sevilla’s previous 10 matches

Leicester City vs Sevilla Prediction

Leicester were second best for most of the first leg and would have been out of the tie, if not for the heroics of Kaspar Schmeichel between the sticks. Jamie Vardy’s late goal gives them a lifeline here and they come into the game in better form than the Spaniards. The Foxes have won back-to-back Premier League games 3-1 and will be looking to carry that momentum into this crucial game.

Sevilla should probably be out of sight but they spurned numerous chances to put this tie to bed a fortnight ago. They’ve since beaten Real Betis and Athletic Bilbao in La Liga but come into the game having registered successive 1-1 draws away to Alaves and more alarmingly, at home to relegation threatened Leganes.

Craig Shakespeare has been confirmed as Leicester’s interim boss until the end of the season and he’s reaped the rewards of going back to basics. The Foxes are playing with the same verve and vigour that guided them to glory last season and this side may yet have another surprise up their sleeve. Every man and their dog expects Sevilla to come out on top here but I’m going against the grain to predict a narrow home win.
