Premier League preview – Liverpool vs Arsenal prediction.

The injury problems are mounting for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp with Jordan Ibe the latest to join the casualty list suffering from hamstring problems. Klopp’s major area of concern is in defence where Skrtel and Lovren are sidelined while Sakho and Toure are not certain to be fit for the Arsenal game. Striker Daniel Sturridge looks unlikely to be fit and may miss out along with captain Jordan Henderson. Philippe Coutinho is still recovering from a hamstring injury but one piece of good news is the availability of James Milner.

Arsenal have a number of first teamers sidelined also. Alexis Sanchez could return to action in the next week or so and Tomas Rosicky is hoping to return later this month. Longer term absentees include Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin and Santi Corzola. Matthieu Flamini is expected to partner Aaron Ramsey in midfield with Mikel Arteta set to start on the bench while regaining his sharpness following a six week lay off.

Possible Line-ups

Arsenal: 4-2-3-1 formation: Cech; Bellerin, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Monreal; Flamini, Ramsey; Walcott, Ozil, Campbell; Giroud

Prediction

Liverpool’s injury hit squad will play their sixth game in 18 days when Premier League leaders Arsenal arrive at Anfield on Wednesday. The Reds won three of those games, Leicester h1-0, Sunderland a1-0 and Stoke a1-0 while losing at West Ham in the league and drawing 2-2 at Exeter City in the FA Cup on Friday. Liverpool have won four of nine home games in the league this season, losing twice and playing a draw in three.

Arsenal have won seven of the least eight games. The Gunners have won six of ten away games in the league, losing three, playing one draw and have failed to score on only two of those road trips. Arsenal have only lost once in their last seven trips to Anfield having won three and drawn three.

The reverse fixture finished 0-0 in August but both teams are creating enough chances for goals at either end with Arsenal most likely to have the extra edge.
