La Liga football tips – Malaga vs Sevilla prediction

Malaga will have to make do without Ignacio Camacho and Flavio Ferreira for this opening fixture of the Spanish top flight. However, that’s the only injury concerns for the home team and they may start with a brand new strike force from last season, with new signings Charles and Duje Cop forming a partnership up-front.

Sevilla also have a couple of injury concerns with Nico Pareja and Daniel Carrico both out. Despite missing the European Super Cup match against Barcelona, Timothee Kolodziejczak, Adil Rami and Steven N’Zonzi should all make the starting XI for this match. Yevhen Konoplyanka will play just off Kevin Gameiro, who may have the opportunity to play as the main striker for Sevilla this season.

This is a great game to start the 2015/16 La Liga season, with Malaga coming in to it showing some decent form in their last three friendly games. However, it will take a big effort for them to improve on last season’s finish of 9th in the table and they could find themselves in mid-table again, come the end of the season. That being said, this match is a great opportunity to defeat one of Spain’s top teams and gain some early season confidence.

Sevilla have already tasted a competitive fixture this season and did well to come back against Barcelona in the European Super Cup. In a match that could easily become a humiliating defeat, Sevilla pulled the match around and could have won it. This season, it will be interesting to see how they combine La Liga with the increasing quality of the Champions League, as opposed to the Europa League in mid-week.

Sevilla will see this a chance to get 3 points on the board early, before hosting Atletico Madrid next weekend.
