Manchester City vs Swansea Preview

Pep Guardiola’s men were handed the title when Manchester United lost to West Brom last weekend so it will be a party atmosphere at Etihad Stadium where Swansea have Premier League survival on their minds.

Gabriel Jesus leads the line for Manchester City following the knee injury which will keep Sergio Aguero out of action for the remainder of the season. The 21-year-old Brazilian has been in and out of the starting eleven this season, scoring 10 goals in 15 starts and nine substitute appearances.

Fernandino serves the last of his two match suspension and Gundogan will keep his place in the centre of midfield. John Stones is doubtful as he recovers from a thigh injury so we can expect to see Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi continue their partnership in the heart of defence.

Swansea’s treatment room has been busy with Luciano Narsingh, Sam Clucas and Renato Sanches racing to be fit for the crucial final games of the season. Narsingh has the best chance of making the lineup after being forced off at half-time in the 1-1 draw with Everton last Saturday.

Tamaraebi Abraham is in line for a recall up front which would mean Andre Ayew returning to the bench.

Manchester City vs Swansea Prediction

17th-placed Swansea are four points clear of the drop zone so have everything to play for. They’ll be hoping the celebratory atmosphere might lead to complacency among the City ranks but Pep Guardiola is sure to demand the utmost professionalism from his men.

City have lost their last two home games, 2-1 against Liverpool in the Champions League and 3-2 against Manchester United in the Premier League but bounced back in style when beating Tottenham 3-1 at Wembley last weekend.

Swansea have been playing well with little reward in recent games. They’ve picked up three points from the last five games and have been struggling to create chances on the road. The Swans have only managed two shots on target in the last three away games and must improve on those stats if they are to trouble the Premier League champions.

City have never failed to score in a league game since being held to a goalless draw by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in December. Swansea’s likely front pair of Abraham and Jordan Ayew have only mustered 12 league goals between them this season so backing City to win to nil looks a solid bet.

Even without Aguero, City have loads of goals in the team, Raheem Sterling is enjoying the most productive career of his season with 17 league goals so far and the midfield is chipping in with contributions from Sane (9), Silva (8), and Bruyne (7). With the home side looking to put on a show, we can see City grabbing at least three goals which they’ve managed 11 times in 16 home games this season.
