Manchester United vs West Ham Prediction, Betting Tips and Preview
Manchester United and West Ham lock horns in the EFL Cup this Wednesday. Read the match predictions to find out why a home win is the betting tip at Old Trafford. These sides played out a 1-1 draw in the Premier League on Sunday, despite the Red Devils dominating the game.
Manchester United vs West Ham Preview
Man Utd have both Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba suspended and Michael Carrick is doubtful through injury, which could see Wayne Rooney drop into a deeper midfield role. An alternative is for Bastian Schweinsteiger to make his first start of the season alongside Ander Herrera. Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling are still out injured and it remains to be seen whether Anthony Martial will feature in Jose Mourinho’s plans.
West Ham would have probably lost at the weekend if it wasn’t for the goalkeeping heroics of Darren Randolph and he’ll be hoping to frustrate United once more. Winston Reid missed the 1-1 draw through suspension but will return to the team here, forcing James Collins onto the bench. Gokhan Tore, Sam Byram and Arthur Masuaku are injured and Reece Oxford has fitness to prove. Andy Carroll could get some action off the bench, with Andre Ayew expected to lead the line for the visitors.

Manchester United vs West Ham Prediction
Manchester United need to start taking their chances sooner or later having dominated their last four home matches but won only one of them. They were denied by Tom Heaton in a 0-0 draw against Burnley and met a similarly stubborn stopper in Darren Randolph on Sunday. They had the better of Arsenal a couple of weeks ago but conceded a late equaliser to draw 1-1, before thumping Feyenoord 4-0 in the Europa League.
West Ham rode their luck at the weekend but did look more convincing at the back than they have done in recent weeks. That draw was preceded by a 3-2 defeat away to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur which came on the back of a 1-1 home draw against Stoke City. The Hammers haven’t won in 4 matches and have won just once on the road this season, losing 6 of their 9 competitive away fixtures.
The luck has to change for Manchester United at some point and there’s certainly no doubting the amount of opportunities that are created. West Ham may have just used up all of their luck in the last match and I’m expecting a comfortable home win here.
