Nottingham Forest play host to Birmingham in the Championship this Friday. Read the match predictions to find out why Birmingham are the betting tip to claim an away victory.

Nottingham Forest vs Birmingham Preview

Nottingham Forest are enduring a bad run at the moment and find themselves down in 18th position with 12 points after sacrificing a one goal advantage to lose 2-1 away at Bristol City. Meanwhile, Birmingham are enjoying an unbeaten spell and moved up to 6th with 20 points following a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers.

Phillipe Montanier has persisted with his attacking 4-3-3 formation despite leaking goals and the Tricky Trees will once again try to outscore their opponents. Niklas Bendtner has had limited game time since moving to the City Ground and is likely to start on the bench again here. That will leave Velios as the focal point of the attack with Osborn and Licá either side. Damien Perquis was replaced by Thomas Lam at the interval in the last match but is expected to retain his starting slot in defence.

Birmingham turned in a professional performance against Blackburn and Gary Rowett is unlikely to alter too much here. Diego Fabbrini will be pushing to replace Che Adams in attack with Lukas Jutkiewicz likely to retain his starting berth. Stephen Gleeson got the decisive goal last time and will continue in the engine room with David Davis while Rhoys Wiggins will be vying to start on the left ahead of Jaques Maghoma.

Nottingham Forest vs Birmingham Prediction

There always seems to be goals when Nottingham Forest are in action and after losing 2-1 away to Sheffield Wednesday, they drew 1-1 at home to Fulham. They looked to have 3 points in the bag away to Bristol City but the victory slipped through their fingers and it’s now 7 games without success for the Reds.

Birmingham also threw away the lead when drawing 1-1 away to Queens Park Rangers but showed great resilience to bounce back twice and salvage a point in a 2-2 draw at home to Preston. They registered their first clean sheet for 3 matches when securing a routine win over struggling Blackburn.

I’d be astounded if this match didn’t produce goals, as Nottingham Forest have been one of the most entertaining sides to watch this season. With the hosts expected to do the pressing, Birmingham will look to catch them on the break and we could be in for a thrilling encounter.

Birmingham are yet to lose on the road this season and I can see them getting a result here. Nottingham Forest just can’t seem to keep a clean sheet and have been susceptible to counter attacks, which should play into the hands of the visiting side.
