Oxford United take on AFC Wimbledon in a televised lunch-time match from League 1 this Sunday. Read the match predictions to find out why a draw is the betting tip at Grenoble Road.

Oxford United vs AFC Wimbledon Preview

Oxford will be keen to get back to League 1 duty after losing on penalties away to Swindon Town following a 0-0 draw in the EFL Trophy. They sit 10th in the table, just two points ahead of Wimbledon who enjoyed a 2-1 cup win against Plymouth Argyle through the week.

The home side are likely to revert to a similar setup that had success away to Bolton last weekend. That would mean the likes of Dan Crowley dropping to the bench and Joe Rothwell coming back into the midfield. Wes Thomas is likely to be used as an impact sub once more with Kane Hemmings set to partner Chris Maguire in attack. Alex MacDonald is suspended for receiving a red card against Swindon.

Wimbledon are also set to make changes but Lyle Taylor will be hoping to hang on to his starting berth in attack, after scoring against Plymouth. Tyrone Barnett was also on the score-sheet but neither are likely to oust Dominic Poleon from the starting lineup, which could mean Tom Elliott dropping to the bench. Wholesale  changes are expected at the back with Charles, Fuller, Robinson and Meades coming back in for Robertson, Francomb, Kelly and Nightingale respectively.

Oxford United vs AFC Wimbledon Prediction

Oxford United are posting patchy form at the moment but have still only lost once in their last 6 outings and remain unbeaten at home thus far. They had a 5-game unbeaten run come to a halt when losing 2-1 away to Southend but bounced back to beat Bolton 2-0 at home before the midweek stalemate at Swindon.

Wimbledon are in much better shape at the moment, having lost just once in their last 10 matches in all competitions. They battled to a 2-2 draw away to struggling Coventry before easing to a 2-0 success at home to Gillingham. They were good value for the 2-1 win at home to Plymouth but it’s their form on the road that’s a slight concern.

Oxford are a tough nut to crack in their own back yard and Wimbledon have won just once on their travels this season. Their questionable away form was evident in the draw with Coventry, a side that they should really have been looking to beat.

The hosts haven’t let in a goal for over 180 minutes and will be looking to keep things tight at the back again here. I’m not convinced they’ll be successful but Wimbledon won’t find it easy to score either. Oxford haven’t exactly been scoring for fun but generally manage to nick a goal and I can see this one ending level.
