Next stop on the PGA Tour is the prestigious RBC Canadian Open, which returns this year to the Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville,Ontario. The event which was first played in 1904 has moved around various venues in recent years, but Glen Abbey has hosted this tournament twenty seven times since its inception, most recently in 2013 and 2015.

The Jack Nicklaus designed Par 72 7,253yd track, which has the distinction of being the first course the Golden Bear designed on his own, is a relatively tough track, especially when the wind blows. With generally small undulating greens protected by steep bunkers, there is a premium on accuracy, particularly with approach shots to the greens around this layout. The course features the great risk and reward Par 5 18th hole, made famous by Tiger Woods jaw dropping six iron over water from the fairway bunker on his way to winning the 2000 Canadian Open.

For punting purposes, post Major fatigue, both physical and mental has to be considered for the players arriving here fresh from a tough old week battling the elements at Troon. Thankfully for the players there will be no need for knitted headwear this week, with baking hot weather and fairly light winds of around 10mph forecast for the four days.

My golf betting tips in this article will focus on a couple of seasoned campaigners, who despite both finishing well down the field in Scotland last week, are fancied to beat the fatigue factor and continue our great run of form. Our juicy 45-1 each-way returns from Nicolas Colsaerts in the Scottish Open were backed up last week with a 30-1 winner in Henrik Stenson, as well as 25-1 each-way returns from Sergio Garcia.

Golf Betting Tips For The RBC Canadian Open

Matt Kuchar 18/1 E\W Bet 365 Matt Kuchar is fancied to go well this week, despite arriving here off the back of a disappointing weekend at Troon. He played some decent golf in the wind and rain last week, but was undone by a poor last round which included a quad bogey seven at the famous Postage Stamp. Five top 6 finishes in his last seven starts shows his game is in great shape, and a Tied 2nd and Tied 7th here in 2013 and 2015 indicates this type of second shot layout sets up perfectly for his razor sharp iron play. Jim Furyk 30/1 E/W Bet 365 A player with a great affinity to this event is Jim Furyk, who won in both 2006 and 2007 (both at different venues to Glen Abbey), and was also runner up in 2014. Excluding his 2006 win which was played in September, it does at least show he has the mental toughness to perform well in this annual post Open Championship gig. He finished in the pack last week, but I would mark up his performance as he was definitely on the wrong side of the draw, probably making a difference of 4 or 5 shots over the first two rounds. He should be fresher than most having started the season late due to wrist surgery, but he showed with a Tied 2nd in the US Open at Hazeltine that he still well capable of contending. This type of track where he has posted a Tied 9th and a fourth place in his last two visits here looks tailor made for Jolly Jim.
