Sampdoria come into this game following a 1-0 defeat to Inter Milan. A win in that game would have put them just one point from a spot in Europe and two points from a Champions League place. However, they now find themselves 7 points adrift and in danger of giving up 6th place to either AC Milan or Atalanta. Prior to last weekends defeat, Sampdoria were unbeaten in five, conceding just three goals in those games and manager Marco Giampaolo will be looking to get back to winning ways by picking up maximum points at home on Sunday.
Sampdoria have been solid at home this season and only league-leaders Napoli and second-placed Juventus have picked up more points on home turf.
