Slovakia take on Lithuania in World Cup qualifying Group F this Friday. Read the match predictions to find out why a draw is the betting tip in Trnava. In the last round of games Slovakia got their first points with a 3-0 victory at home Scotland while Lithuania remain unbeaten after their 2-0 success over Malta.

Slovakia vs Lithuania Preview

Slovakia will be captained by Martin Skrtel while playmaker Marek Hamsik remains their most dangerous attacking player and top scorer. Vladimir Weiss and Robert Mak are two other threats for the hosts. Strikers Michal Duris and Adam Nemec will be hoping to improve on their modest goal tallies here.

Lithuania will be captained by stirker Fiodor Cernych who is Lithuania’s top scorer with eight goals in 29 appearances. They have another capable attacker in VfL Bochum midfielder Arvydas Novikovas who can pop up with a goal from the middle of the park. 19 year old Cologne striker Manfredas Ruzgis is the only uncapped player in the squad.

Slovakia vs Lithuania Prediction

Slovakia may be up and running but their slow start leaves them with an uphill struggle to qualify. They frustrated England but went down 0-1 at home in their opening match and were beaten by the same scoreline away to Slovenia. The comfortable win over Scotland brings them back into contention but losing this would leave them at least 5 points adrift of the runner-up spot.

Lithuania’s campaign began with an exciting 2-2 draw at home to Slovenia. They then battled hard for a 1-1 draw away at Scotland and without setting the world alight, got the job done against Malta. The visitors tend not to travel well but a well-earned 0-0 draw in a friendly against Poland prior to the tournament beginning means they’ve avoided defeat in the last two away matches.

The onus will be on Slovakia to do the pressing and although they’ve failed to score in 5 of their last 6 matches, Lithuania tend to let one in. The visitors aren’t expected to have many chances but have been clinical in front of goal thus far. In a tough game to call, the tip is a score draw which unfortunately doesn’t suit either side.
