Spain haven’t quite been the force of old in tournaments but it’s been plain sailing in this qualification process so far. They swept aside Liechtenstein 8-0 and came within moments of ending Italy’s long run without a home defeat in World Cup matches, before a late penalty denied them a famous victory. That 1-1 is a good result in the grand scheme of things and the momentum is with the hosts after their win in Albania.
Macedonia have fallen foul of late goals and could perhaps be in a better position had that not been the case. They were denied a point away to Albania with a last minute winner making it 2-1 and then lost by the same scoreline at home to Israel. They would have taken a point off Italy last time but a goal deep into injury time means they’ve lost all 3 matches so far.
It would be a major shock if the visitors were to get a draw in this match, let alone win it. Spain will win this comfortably in my opinion and most likely with a clean sheet. I don’t think it’ll be another ‘Liechtenstein’ but the home side could easily run away with it and rack up a few goals.
