Swansea City got back to winning ways in the FA Cup 3rd round replay against Wolves in midweek and that should give them a bit of confidence going into one of their toughest games of the season. The Swans’ players will have  bad memories of playing Liverpool this season after a 5-0 defeat on Boxing Day. However, they have a different manager in charge in Carlos Carvalhal, who will bring different ideas to the table.

Angel Rangel is a long term absentee for The Swans, while Renato Sanches, Tabby Abraham and Mike van der Hoorn are all doubts for this big game. Kyle Naughton returns from suspension for this one and will slot in at right-back. Leon Britton is also available for selection.

Liverpool will be  on cloud nine after inflicting the first domestic defeat of the season on the seemingly unbeatable Manchester City. That 4-3 win was probably the most entertaining game of the season so far and it came just days after selling one of their star men, Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

Nathaniel Clyne is still out injured so either Joe Gomez or Trent Alexander Arnold will play at right back. The big news is that Mohamed Salah has been fighting an illness, but he is back in training and should play from the start. Jordan Henderson is back in training too but is unlikely to feature. Virgil van Dijk missed the game against Man City but is expected to be in the squad for this contest.

Carlos Carvalhal seems like a good appointment so far, as he has only lost one of his first five matches as Swansea manager. The side have also picked up four points from a possible nine in the Premier League. They are still bottom of the league though, but have at least given themselves a chance of survival.

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 18 competitive matches, winning 13 of those too. They now look like one of the favourites to claim a Champions League place, with some of their rivals Arsenal and Chelsea looking shaky at the moment.

For the club that is bottom of the league to stop an attacking front three of Firmino, Salah and Mane is a big ask. Swansea will be up for the challenge I’m sure, but The Reds are likely to score at least a few times.

It would be a massive shock if Liverpool don’t claim the three points on Monday night and the tip is for a 3-1 win for the Reds.
