Trainer Tom Dascombe loves to target this Chester meeting and has some notable successes including Brown Panther who won the Ormonde Stakes here in 2014. He runs dual course and distance winner Kachy in the 4:05 and the five-year-old speedster is our horse racing tip today.

Ridden by Richard Kingscote who knows the horse inside and out, they arrive in excellent form having won two out of three on the all weather this year. The son of Kyllachy landed the Listed Betway Cleves Stakes at Lingfield in February and was outstayed by City Light on his latest appearance in the All Weather Sprint Championship at the same track in March.

Kachy drops back to the minimum trip at which he’s won three times on the turf and has the speed to overcome a wide draw to maintain his 100% record at Chester.

Alan Berry’s nine-year-old I’ll Be Good is a good handicapper on his day and has won twice over the course and distance. The gelding has the speed of those drawn on the inside but prefers some cut in the ground and connections will be hoping the rain turns out to be heavier than forecast.

Duke Of Firenze has had success in decent handicaps at York, Goodwood and Epsom and will enjoy the big meeting atmosphere. The nine-year-old ran a great race to finish fourth in the Group 1 Prix De L’Abbaye at Chantilly in October but that was his last race and the gelding does not have a good record when fresh. He finished fourth off a lower mark in this race last year and being a horse that needs to be covered up, could easily find trouble round this tight track.

Growl is well treated on his form of two years ago and is one to watch. He’s dropped down the weights after failing to win in his last 10 races but can’t be recommended coming off a seven month break at a distance which is less than ideal.

Double Up finished second in this race 12 months ago  but is likely to find it harder today. Roger Varian’s charge was able to get the rail from stall 2 before being outpaced on that occasion. The gelding is drawn wider today and looks to be faced with more pace on his inside

The going at Chester is good. The weather forecast is for light rain with a moderate southerly breeze.

Kachy has been in cracking form on the all weather recently and returning to his optimum distance on turf is taken to make it three out of three on the Roodee.
