Joint top weight Ramore Will stands out following a cosy victory in a seven-runner handicap at Plumpton a week past Sunday. The eight-year-old notched back to back wins at Fontwell and Plumpton earlier in the season. He finds himself 3lb better off than when successful in September and looks well in for the Kempton race this afternoon.

Ramore Will won with plenty in hand on his latest outing and, escaping a penalty for the effort, simply has to be supported again today.

Victor Dartnell-trained Bolving is unexposed and well thought of at home after taking some big scalps in his bumper here two years ago. While the seven-year-old could be anything, he looked a difficult ride when failing to justify favouritism at Kempton in February. The gelding is up in distance today and overnight support in the betting market could be significant. Bolving has his supporters but is too risky at current odds of around 7/2.

Prince Mahler has finished in the places on three of his four starts this season. The eight-year-old has had two outings since moving to Kayley Woollacott’s yard. He ran well enough on his stable debut when finishing second in an 18-runner handicap at Wincanton but disappointed when favourite for a three-mile handicap at Taunton last time. Prince Mahler should do better at this shorter trip and could be in the shake up again today.

Fiona Shaw fitted cheekpieces to The Mighty Ash last time out and the enigmatic gelding responded with a much improved run over this course and distance. The eight-year-old didn’t quite see out the trip and, under a 12 stone burden, may be found wanting again today.

Lightly-raced Theatre Stage has been well supported in four of his six races to date but remains a maiden. Evan Williams charge finished last of five when odds on at Ffos Las in November and was a well beaten fifth when going off joint favourite at Hereford on his latest outing in January.

Nick Gifford-trained Project Mars looks the most interesting of the outsiders. He went close to breaking his duck at Fontwell in December but has failed to reproduce that form in two subsequent races when partnered with a claimer. There’s been support in the market for the six-year-old who will be guided by a more experienced jockey and gets fitted with blinkers for the first time.

Today’s going at Kempton is good to soft and soft on the bend adjacent to the lake. The weather forecast is for moderate showers with light easterly winds.

Chris Gordon is striking while the iron is hot, producing un-penalised Ramore Will just eight days after his impressive win at Plumpton. Bolving is a bit of a dark horse so I’m opting for the form horse, Ramore Will, for today’s horse racing prediction.
