Anthony Brittain-trained Mutabaahy is the one that makes most appeal and could land this moderate event at a decent price. The three-year-old got off the mark in a six-furlong race at Wolverhampton two weeks ago and can make his presence felt despite a 6lb rise in the weights. Brittain brings him back to the minimum trip which might be considered a negative but  the Wolverhampton race was run at a fast pace, giving every indication Mutabaahy can stay with this evening’s rivals.

The danger appears to Carpet Time, David Barron’s three-year-old is popular among horse racing predictions for today and remains unexposed with just three races under his belt. The three-year-old justified favouritism to land a four runner maiden at Wolverhampton last time but has more to do here carrying top weight against more experienced rivals.

Furni Factors is a consistent sort and has finished in the places on four of his five starts this season. The gelding produced his best effort when a close third to Ghost over six furlongs at this venue 19 days ago and must be considered.

Marietta Robusti arrives in good form, following up a recent win at Chelmsford City with a very good second at Lingfield last time and is expected to be in the shake up.

Iain Jardine’s Super Florence was a decent second on her seasonal debut at Wolverhampton event. The filly looks to have thrived since the recent change of yard and could figure here if she can find a little more.

There’s not much to recommend among the remainder of the field, Mosseyb makes his first handicap appearance and debuts for Paul Midgley’s yard. Cherry Oak has had enough opportunities and looks short of the quality required while Sienna Says looked out of form last time out at Wolverhampton.

Today’s forecast is for light showers at Newcastle which will not affect the going on the Tapeta surface which is Standard.

The all weather surface at Newcastle is the same as Wolverhampton where today’s horse racing tip won the first race of his career. Although he drops back to five furlongs this evening, Mutabaahy looks a solid each way bet at around 7/1.
