Verona‘s future in Serie A is looking bleak after losing 7 of their last 8 matches. They’ve struggled to find goals recently and managed to find the net in just two of those fixtures. Their recent 2-0 defeat away to Lazio has left them five points from safety and in dire need of a win. Following Sunday’s match against Torino, Verona have games against bottom of the table Benevento and 15th placed Chievo which manager Fabio Pecchia will see as winnable games. If they can take away at least a point on Sunday it will leave them in a positive position to climb out of the bottom three and be in with a better chance of being a Serie A club next season.
Midfielder Marcel Büchel is likely to not recover from injury in time to feature in Sunday’s match and will probably be replaced by Marco Fossati. Winger, Alessio Cerci also remains out injured.
Torino are still fighting for a Europa League spot but have dropped back into 9th place in the table after suffering a 1-0 defeat against rivals Juventus at the weekend. The visitors had been on good form prior to that game and were unbeaten in five. However, Verona should prove to be much less of a threat than Juventus and Walter Mazzarri will be confident his side can get back on track by picking up three points on Sunday.
Torino have only lost once in their last eight games on the road. However, they have also only picked up two wins and have had trouble finishing teams off once taking the lead. They’ve picked up 16 points from a possible 36 away from home despite only losing twice all season and it’s hard to see Verona breaking them down enough to snatch the win.
Walter Mazzarri has no new injury concerns and will have a full squad available for their trip to Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.

Pecchia would be happy with a point on Sunday considering they have two winnable games ahead but Torino will be looking to brush their defeat to Juventus aside and get back to challenging for a place in Europe next season.
