Wales take on Georgia in World Cup qualifying Group D this Sunday. Read the match predictions to find out why Wales are the betting tip to get three points at Cardiff City Stadium.

Wales vs Georgia Preview

Wales moved to the top of the table on goal difference after drawing 2-2 away to Austria on Thursday night. Meanwhile, Georgia lost 0-1 away to Republic of Ireland and are still in search of their first point.

Chris Coleman will have to make do without midfielder Joe Allen who scored a beauty in Vienna before being withdrawn with a hamstring injury. He joins Aaron Ramsey on the sidelines, leaving a big void in the Welsh midfield. David Edwards is likely to come in, after replacing Allen from the bench on Thursday.

Georgia turned in a stubborn performance but couldn’t find a reply to Ireland’s solitary goal after the interval. Vladimír Weiss is likely to keep faith with the same selection, after such a promising display. Levan Mchedlidze will once again be fielded as a lone striker and will need every ounce of support from Jano Ananidze in the hole.

Team Predictions Wales vs Georgia

Georgia 4-2-3-1 formation: Loria; Navalovski, Kashia, Kverkvelia, Kakabadze; Daushvili, Gvilia; Okriashvili, Ananidze, Qazaishvili; Mchedlidze

Wales vs Georgia Prediction

Wales performed with great credit despite losing 0-2 to eventual Euro 2016 winners Portugal and showed no signs of a hangover when making light work of Moldova in a 4-0 rout. They needed a moment of magic from Joe Allen and an own-goal to avoid defeat in Austria but this looks much easier.

Georgia caused something of a shock when they edged the mighty Spain 0-1 in a friendly this summer. They lost 1-2 to Austria in their opening match of this campaign and were edged 1-0 by Ireland last time out, so haven’t exactly been terrible.

Aaron Ramsey is a big enough miss for Wales but to have Joe Allen out too leaves them light in midfield. Still, with Gareth Bale on the pitch, there’s every chance he can create something out of nothing to turn a game.

Wayne Hennessey is likely to have a quiet match and the question is whether or not Wales can find a breakthrough. I’m tipping the Dragons to register a comfortable 2-0 win here which will put them in a strong position and all but end Georgia’s faint hopes of making it to Russia.
