Bundesliga preview – FC Ingolstadt v Eintracht Frankfurt prediction

FC Ingolstadt have Benjamin Hubner and Romain Bregerie competing for a starting berth in the centre of defence. Alfredo Morales is a doubt after suffering a broken nose but may be allowed to play with a protective mask. Elias Kachunga once again is restricted to an appearance from the bench. Ralph Hasenhuttl may decide to go with the same XI.

Eintracht Frankfurt still have Carlos Zambrano out with broken ribs and David Abraham could deputise. Timothy Chandler is still out through injury and Aleksandar Ignjovski continues at right-back. In attack Haris Seferovic is still out with injury and Luc Castaignos should return to the starting line up with support from Alexander Meier.

Possible Line-ups

Ingolstadt: 4-3-3 formation: Ozcan; Levels, Matip, Hubner, Suttner; Grob, Roger,Morales; Lex, Hinterseer, Leckie

Frankfurt: 4-3-1-2 formation: Hradecky; Ignjovski, Abraham, Russ, Oczipka; Hasebe, Reinartz, Aigner; Stendera; Meier, Castaignos

  • Frankfurt have won 5, drawn 3 and lost 2

Over the course of their previous 10 matches:

  • Ingolstadt have scored an average of 0.8 goals and conceded an average of 1.1 goals per game
  • Frankfurt have scored an average of 2 goals and conceded an average of 1.1 goals per game

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in:

  • 3 of Ingolstadt’s previous 10 matches
  • 5 of Frankfurt’s previous 10 matches

Prediction

Ingolstadt’s only defeat of the season came in their last home game to Hamburg. They currently sit 8th in the Bundesliga and only Dortmund have really had their way with the new comers. 6 of their 7 league matches have had under 2.5 goals which is how Ingolstadt are getting their points this season by keeping games tight and playing on the counter.

Eintracht Frankfurt are without a win in their last 3 games and have failed to win 14 of their last 15 away games in the Bundesliga. With two in form attackers Frankfurt have Meier and Castaignos both on 4 goals for the season but they may find it difficult to break down the well structured Ingolstadt defence given their terrible away record.

We have went for a low scoring draw here. Ingolstadt’s impressive start to the season cannot be overlooked and their consistently well structured defence must be respected. Luc Castaignos has been without a goal of late so expect him to be on the end of any chances Frankfurt create.
