Bundesliga football tips – Monchengladbach vs Dortmund prediction.

Gladbach go into this match without Martin Stranzl who is absent with a knee injury and on loan Leverkusen midfielder Christoph Kramer who is suspended. Gladbach boss Lucien Favre has confirmed that former Arsenal midfielder Havard Nordtveit will fill in for Kramer.

Dortmund will have Marco Reus and Mats Hummels both available for the match after the pair were rested for their midweek DFB Pokal victory over Hoffenheim. Sven Bender however is a slight doubt for the match after getting a knock in the midweek fixture.

Probable line-ups

Gladbach: 4-4-1-1 formation:  Sommer; Wendt, Dominguez, Brouwers, Jantschke; Hazard, Xhaka, Nordtveit, Herrmann; Raffael; Kruse

Dortmund: 4-2-3-1 formation:  Weidenfeller; Durm, Subotic, Hummels, Schmelzer; Kehl, Gundogan; Blaszczykowski, Kagawa, Reus; Aubameyang

  • Gladbach have won 5, drawn 4 and lost 1 of their last 10 matches
  • Dortmund have won 4, drawn 3 and lost 3 of their last 10 matches
  • In their last 10 fixtures, Gladbach have scored an average of 1.8 goals per game and conceded an average of 0.8
  • In their last 10 fixtures, Dortmund have scored an average of 1.4 goals per game and conceded an average of 1.2
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of Gladbach’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals in 6 of Dortmund’s previous 10 matches
  • This fixture has occurred 85 times with Gladbach winning on 28 occasions, Dortmund winning 29 with 28 draws

Gladbach go into this fixture in excellent form having not lost in their last seven Bundesliga matches. They did however suffer a very shocking and disappointing midweek loss as third tier side Arminia Bielefeld knocked them out of quarter finals of the DFB Pokal on penalties. The loss of Martin Stranzl and Christoph Kramer are big blows to the hosts however Gladbach still have a very strong squad that will cause the best of teams problems.

Dortmund on the other hand were victorious in their mid-week cup clash beating Hoffenheim in a thrilling 3-2 encounter where Sebastian Kehl scored a fantastic strike. It is likely that both teams could lack some energy in the fixture due to both teams playing 120 minutes midweek.

Dortmund have rejuvenated what looked to be an awful season before the winter into a fairly respectable one all things considered. Both teams are in fine form and on the day it could go either way. I think that although both teams have quality it could lack the spark that will make it an exciting one to watch.
