Bundesliga preview – SV Darmstadt 98 v Bayern Munich prediction

Darmstadt have no new injury worries ahead of their clash with the German super power. The starting spot behind the front man is up for competition between Rosenthal and Sailer. The only other choice may be at left back but Fabian Holland is likely to retain his place.

Bayern Munich have no new injury concerns but are still without a host of first team players including Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben and Mehdi Benatia. The Champions League game through the week was a positive result for the Champions who will be hoping to go all out and keep the pressure on Dortmund ahead of a clash with Wolfsburg

Possible Line-ups

Darmstadt: 4-4-1-1 formation: Mathenia; Garics, Sulu, Caldirola, Holland; Heller, Niemeyer, Gondorf, Rausch; Rosenthal; Stroh-Engel

Bayern Munich: 3-4-3 formation: Neuer; Rafinha, Boateng, Alaba; Lahm, Rode, Vidal, Bernat; Muller, Lewandowski, Costa

Statistics

Last 10 matches:

  • Darmstadt have scored an average of 1.7 goals and conceded an average of 0.6 goals per game
  • Bayern have scored an average of 2.6 goals and conceded an average of 0.7 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in:
  • 4 of Darmstadt’s previous 10 matches
  • 9 of Bayern’s previous 10 matches

There has only ever been 1 previous meeting of the sides in 2008 which finished Darmstadt 5-11 Bayern.

Prediction

Darmstadt have adjusted well to life in the Bundesliga keeping their games tight and not giving away any sloppy goals. Draws with Hannover, Schalke and Hoffenheim have to be admired while an away win at Leverkusen in the last game will give the side some much needed confidence ahead of Bayern’s visit, which is a daunting yet exciting time for the newly promoted side.

Bayern have got off to a good start this season, scoring goals and rarely conceding. All that without Ribery and Robben which is ominous for the rest of the teams in the Bundesliga and across Europe. Bayern will have goal machine Thomas Muller and Douglas Costa playing in attack that will help Lewandowski in his race for the Golden Boot.

Like all Bayern’s games this season goals can be guaranteed and with such a strong forward line we have went for the Champions to teach the new kids on the block a lesson and deliver their first defeat of the season in a resounding fashion.
