Champions League preview – Bayern Munich vs Arsenal prediction

Pep Guardiola is still without Franck Ribery, Mario Gotze and Sebastian Rode for the visit of Arsenal. There are also fitness concerns over Holger Badstuber and Juan Bernat, although both could be available to play some part in the match. Defenders Javi Martinez and Mehdi Benatia are competing for a place alongside Jerome Boateng at the back.

Arsene Wenger has a growing injury list ahead of the crucial trip to the Allianz Arena. Defensively the Arsenal boss is without Hector Bellerin but it’s further forward where the real problems have developed. The likes of Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Theo Walcott, among others, are all unavailable for selection.

Prediction

After a perfect start to the season, where Bayern Munich won their first twelve competitive games in a row, there have been a couple of disappointments. The most notable one came at Arsenal two weeks ago, where Bayern went down 2-0 but the German outfit also drew 0-0 at Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga at the weekend. That being said, Bayern’s home form is superb and they will still feel confident of taking maximum points from this game.

Since the defeat at home to Olympiakos in the Champions League, Arsenal have enjoyed a good run of results. The only set-back came at Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup, which not only resulted in Arsenal being knocked out of the competition but also injuries to some key players. However, the team responded well with a good 3-0 win at Swansea in the Premier League and having performed well in the Allianz Arena in recent visits, are capable of taking something from the match.

Despite the injury problems, Arsenal still have plenty to offer in attack and could catch Bayern out on the break and claim a point.
