Champions League preview – Juventus vs Bayern Munich prediction.

Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini is unlikely to be fit for the first leg of the Champions League tie against Bayern Munich as the defender makes his way back from a calf injury. The return of striker Mario Mandzukic has been delayed which means Alvaro Morata should play up front with Paulo Dybala. Alex Sandro, Martin Caceres and Kwadwo Asamoah are also sidelined with injuries.

Frank Ribery, Mario Gotze and winter signing Serdar Tasci are available for Bayern Munich. Tasci played the first 53 minutes of the 3-1 win against Darmstadt on Saturday while Ribery came on for the last 40 minutes. Pep Guardiola is without three defenders for the trip to Turin, Javi Martinez, Jerome Boateng and Holger Badstuber, meaning Bayern could start with the unfamiliar pairing of Tasci and Mehdi Benatia at the heart of defence.

Possible Line-ups

Juventus 4-3-3 formation: Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Barzagli, Bonucci, Evra; Marchisio, Khedira, Pogba; Cuadadro, Dybala, Morata

Bayern Munich 4-1-4-1 formation: Neuer; Rafinha, Benatia, Tasci, Alaba; Lahm; Robben, Muller, Vidal,Costa; Lewandowski

Prediction

Juventus finished runners-up in Champions League Group D behind Manchester City after losing the final group game in Sevilla. The result sparked a run of 13 consecutive league and cup victories which came to an end in the goalless draw at Bologna on Friday. Max Allegri benched a couple of key players in Dybala and Juan Cuadrado who should return for Tuesday’s showdown with the German champions.

Bayern finished top of Group F, winning five of their six group games. Guardiola’s men avenged the 2-0 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates by thumping the Gunners 5-1 in the reverse fixture two weeks later. Bayern are 8 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. They go to Turin on the back of three consecutive wins and having won on their last two visits to Juventus Stadium.

Juventus have not lost a home game since the first month of the season and look capable of avoiding defeat in the first leg.
