Champions League football tips – Monaco vs Young Boys prediction

Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim, is unlikely to make any major changes to his team, following a successful first leg in Switzerland. New signing Stephan El Shaarawy could come in to the starting XI, having started on the bench last week.

Young Boys are also unlikely to make any major changes to their team from the first leg. With no injuries or suspension concerns, manager Ulrich Forte will probably stick to the same 4-3-3 formation from the first leg, with the only change perhaps seeing the inclusion of Samuel Afum in attack.

Possible Line-ups

Monaco: 4-5-1 formation: Subasic; Fabinho, Raggi, Carvalho, Kurzawa; El Shaarawy, Moutinho, Toulalan, Pasalic, Cavaleiro; Martial

Young Boys: 4-3-3 formation: Mvogo; Benito, Von Bergen, Vilotic, Sutter; Sanogo, Gajic, Kubo; Nuzzolo, Hoarau, Sulejmani

  • Monaco have won 6, drawn 1 and lost 3 of their last 10 matches
  • Young Boys have won 5, drawn 3 and lost 1 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Monaco have scored an average of 1.5 goals and conceded an average of 0.8 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Young Boys have scored an average of 2.2 goals and conceded an average of 1.7 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Monaco’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 7 of Young Boys’ previous 10 matches
  • The first leg ended in a 3-1 for Monaco in Switzerland

Monaco surprised many people in last season’s Champions League, none more so than Arsenal. Having topped a group which included Bayer Leverkusen, Zenit St Petersburg and Benfica, the Ligue 1 team will feel they deserve a place in the group stages once again this season. Their performance in the first leg was not brilliant and the scoreline may have flattered them somewhat but it gives them a great platform for the return to the Stade Louis II.

Young Boys have been in both European and domestic action already this season. However, things have not quite gone to plan, having drawn their first three league matches 1-1 and losing the first leg of this tie 3-1 at home. Furthermore, Young Boys have only won once on the road in their last eight attempts and that doesn’t bode well against a team who are strong at home.

We say: Monaco to win by 2 goals at 10/3 with Bet365
