Champions League football tips – Real Madrid vs Juventus prediction

Real Madrid are still without key midfielder Luka Modric and Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping that the knock that forced Toni Kroos off on the weekend was not serious. If Kroos is fit, Sergio Ramos will surely return to the back four, following a poor passing display from midfield in Turin. Karim Benzema could be fit to start.

Juventus welcomed back Paul Pogba on the weekend and he will be back in the team again on Wednesday night. With just Kwadwo Asamoah and Martin Caceres out through injury, Massimiliano Allegri has a strong squad to pick from. Given the performance last week, Pogba could be the only change to the team that started in Turin.

Probable Line-ups

Real Madrid: 4-3-3 formation: Casillas; Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Kroos, Isco, James, Bale, Ronaldo, Benzema

Juventus: 4-3-1-2 formation: Buffon; Evra, Chiellini, Bonucci, Lichtsteiner; Marchiso, Pirlo, Pogba; Vidal; Tevez, Morata

  • Real Madrid have won 7, drawn 2 and lost 1 of their last 10 matches
  • Juventus have won 6, drawn 2 and lost 2 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Real Madrid have scored an average of 2.2 goals and conceded an average of 0.9 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Juventus have scored an average of 1.4 goals and conceded an average of 0.7 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 7 of Real Madrid’ previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Juventus’ previous 10 matches
  • The last time these teams met at the Bernabeu was in the Champions League in 2013, Real Madrid won 2-1

The 2-2 draw at home to Valencia on the weekend, was less than ideal preparation for a game that could make or break Real Madrid’s season. You have to go back to 2011 to find a Champions League match, at the Bernabeu, where Real Madrid have failed to score. However, despite the 1-0 defeat of Atletico Madrid in the previous round, Real Madrid conceded 4 against Schalke and they can not afford a repeat of that.

Juventus have had Serie A wrapped up for a while now and have been focussing all efforts on this semi-final. With the return of Pogba in midfield, Allegri will feel he has the upper-hand in that department and could boss the game from there. A repeat of their previous two away performances in the Champions League would be enough to see them through.

It seems an impossible task to prevent Real Madrid from scoring at the Bernabeu in the Champions League and Juventus will know the key to success will be finding the back of the net themselves. Something which they are certainly capable of.

We Say: Draw and both teams to score at 9/2 with Bet365
