Brighton and hove Albion take on Reading in a live Championship match this Saturday evening. Read the match predictions to find out why a home win is the betting tip at the AMEX stadium. Brighton come into this match in the back of a 0-2 win away to Barnsley while Reading lost 1-0 away to Huddersfield Town.

Brighton vs Reading Preview

Brighton will be without left-back Gaetan Bong, so Sebastien Pocognoli is set to deputise in his absence. On the other side of defence, Liam Rosenior is closing in on a return but Bruno will keep his place. No changes are expected for the home side, with Sam Baldock and Glenn Murray set to lead the line in attack.

Reading will assess West Ham loanee Reece Oxford after an illness, suggesting that Liam Moore and Tyler Blackett should continue at centre back. Tiago Ilori, Deniss Rakels and Callum Harriott are all out injured for this tricky away tie. On a positive note, Joey Van den Berg is available for selection following a hamstring injury but is unlikely to start.

Team Predictions Brighton vs Reading

Brighton 4-4-2 formation: Stockdale; Pocognoli, Dunk, Duffy, Bruno; Murphy, Stephens, Sidwell, Knockaert; Murray, Baldock

Reading 4-3-3 formation: Al Habsi; Obita, Blackett, Moore, Gunter; Williams, Kelly, Mutch; Beerens, Grabban, McCleary

Brighton vs Reading Prediction

Brighton may have hit a wobble recently and lost top spot but they come into this game unbeaten in four matches and 4 points clear of third-placed Huddersfield in an automatic promotion spot. The Seagulls have been flying high for much of the season and have been a tough nut to crack on their own turf. Only Brentford have beaten them at the AMEX, so the home side will be confident of getting the right result.

Reading’s defeat at Huddersfield sees them 8 points off Brighton and anything but a win here would probably end their hopes of automatic promotion. The Royals have been hit and miss on the road this season and have lost 7 away games in the Championship. Nevertheless, the visitors look destined to secure a playoff spot and will be no pushovers.

I’m expecting a close game here but as Brighton have only lost twice in their last 24 Championship matches, I’m tipping them to come out on top. Chris Hughton’s side look assured in defence, have a creative midfield and Glenn Murray has 16 goals to his name. Reading will make this a battle but are one or two short and that could tell over 90 minutes.
