International Champions Cup football tips – Roma vs Manchester City prediction

Roma may make some changes to the team that started the match against Real Madrid last week but with so many substitutions taking place, the starting line-up could be similar. However, the likes of Mattia Destro, who didn’t feature until the 60 minute mark, may get a run-out from the start.

Manchester City had a few unrecognisable names in their team for the 1-0 over Melbourne City recently and they may keep their places for this one. The recent additions of Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph are unlikely to feature at this stage.

Possible Line-ups

Roma: 4-3-3 formation: Lobont; Maicon, Yanga-Mbiwa, Manolas, Cole; Ucan, De Rossi, Nainggolan; Falque, Destro, Gervinho

Manchester City: 4-4-1-1 formation: Hart; Maffeo, Kompany, Humphreys, Clichy; Fernando, Toure, Barker, Navas; Nasri; Dzeko

  • Roma have won 4, drawn 2 and lost 4 of their last 10 matches
  • Manchester City have won 8 and drawn 2 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Roma have scored an average of 1.4 goals and conceded an average of 1.1 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Manchester City have scored an average of 2.3 goals and conceded an average of 1 goal per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 7 of Roma’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Manchester City’s previous 10 matches
  • The last time these teams met was in the Champions League 2014 and Man City defeated Roma, in Rome, 2-0

This will be Manchester City’s first real test of their pre-season tour and Manuel Pellegrini will be using the game to get more minutes in to the legs of his players. That being said, having lost the title to Chelsea last season, the Man City boss will be leaving no stone unturned in his preparations and will want a good win here.

Roma started off their International Champions Cup campaign with a 0-0 draw against Real Madrid, eventually winning the match on penalties. Rudi Garcia will hope his team can continue this good start with a strong performance against the team that ended their Champions League hopes last season.

There are sure to be many changes, by both teams during the course of the match and the intensity will not be at the same level of their Champions League meetings. However, with some great talent on show, this has the makings of a very entertaining match and one that could be very close.

We say: Draw and both teams to score at 7/2 with Bet365
