Free golf betting tips for the UBS Hong Kong Open, the final event of this year is the co-sanctioned and returns to the Hong Kong Golf Club, Fanling. The 6,669yd Par 70 venue is the shortest used on the Tour schedule and has been used for this event since it elevation to the official European Tour in 2001.

This course, which definitely falls into the category of an old-school layout, has only two par 5s (3rd and 13th) and four short par 3s, and is a narrow tree lined track with small elevated greens. The key elements required this week’s golf tips will be accuracy, particularly from the tee with six dog-legs to contend with and pinpoint iron play to find tight pins on these small bermuda greens. With names like Miguel Angel  (three time winner), Colin Montgomerie and Jose Maria Olazabal on the winning trophy, you get the idea of the type of player to have on your side this week. Sunny skies, with only light breezes are forecast for the four days of the tournament.

The column had a great start to the 2017 season with a 1-2 in the Alfred Dunhill Championship last week from our two picks. Brandon Stone was a winning 25-1 tip, followed home by Richard Sterne, who rewarded each-way support at 25-1. Hopefully we can help with the festive expenses with our two selections this week.

Hong Kong Open golf betting tips

Jeunghun Wang 25/1 E/W Paddy Power (6 places)

The main golf tip this week is the ultra promising Korean youngster Jeunghun Wang, who recently picked up the prestigious Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year award. The 21 year old really burst on to the scene in May with a maiden win in the Trophee Hassan in Morocco, followed by another victory the following week in the Mauritius Open. He is one of the new breed of young Asian players who are starting to win events on the European Tour and the signs are this young player could well be the best of the bunch.

His form in the recent end of season Final Series was impressive, with a Tied 13th in Turkey, a runner-up finish in the Nedbank and a Tied 17th place in Dubai, showing this neat and tidy player remains in good form. He has made the cut in his two starts around this quirky layout and I like the fact he finished Tied 2nd in this year’s Hero Indian Open around the very similar and equally quirky Delhi Golf Club.

David Lipsky 50/1 E/W Ladbrokes

The second golf betting tip this week who is fancied to go well at decent odds is David Lipsky. The 28 year old American had a really solid 2016 season with seven top 10 finishes, including a Tied 5th in Portugal and Tied  6th in Turkey in end of season events. He looked a bit jaded in both the Nedbank and DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, which is hardly surprising considering he played thirty one events last season. Hopefully a two week break will have freshened up the American for this weeks gig, where he posted a 12th place finish in 2014.

He is another player who played well at the similar Delhi Golf Club this year (Tied 10th), and his sole previous win on the European Tour in the 2014 Omega European Masters was gained at Crans-sur-Sierre, another quirky tree lined layout. In this class of field, with doubts about some at the top end of the market, he looks decent each-way value this week.
