The European Tour remains in China for this week’s free golf betting tips on the Volvo China Open which returns to the Ian Woosnam designed Topwin Golf and Country Club in Beijing. This Par 72 7,261yd venue, which was only opened in 2011, is a scenic parkland track played under a stunning backdrop of The Great Wall of China. The course is quite generous from the tee with undulating greens and water hazards feature on all bar three of the holes. The winning score of 22 under in its first renewal last year shows this course is very ‘gettable’ and with baking hot conditions and only light breezes forecast for the tournament, expect another birdie bonanza in Beijing this week.

Punting wise, with the exception of the missing Tommy Fleetwood, its pretty much the same field as last week in the Shenzhen International. Bernd Wiesberger and Ross Fisher head the market, but both offer limited appeal at the prices despite their obvious chances. Wiesberger tried his best to throw last weeks event away, and looked pretty frazzled after his play-off win, whilst Fisher showed again why he has only won once since 2010 with another pretty feeble finishing effort.

Fisher did at least reward the 16-1 each-way golf tip for the column by finishing 4th.

Alexander Levy 20/1 E/W (7 places) Ladbrokes

The main betting tip this week is the charismatic Frenchman Alexander Levy who won this event at another venue in 2014. The swashbuckling 26 year old has made a bit of a habit of winning low scoring events on the European Tour in his short career. He won the 2014 Volvo China Open with a winning score of 19 under and followed up in the rain shortened 36 hole 2014 Portugal Masters with a stunning 18 under winning score. His latest win in last years 2016 Porsche European Open was achieved in a 54 hole shootout where his winning score of 19 under showed again these low scoring events ideally suit his ultra attacking style of play.

He arrives here in pretty good nick after a 4th place finish in the Maybank Championship and a Tied 8th place finish last week in the Shenzhen International, where he stormed through the field after a disappointing first round. Hopefully he will come out of the blocks quicker this week, but he has shown in the past that he is well capable of posting some really low numbers on these forgiving layouts which are the norm in China. He finished a respectable Tied 28th on his course debut last year but expect a more prominent showing this year.

David Lipsky 30/1 E/W (6 Places) Boylesports

The second golf tip is the somewhat underrated American David Lipsky who is another who finished very strongly from off the pace to finish Tied 5th in the Shenzhen International last week. This prominent showing came after a six week break from his previous start in the WGC in Mexico and he has shown, with a 2nd place finish in his penultimate outing in the Maybank Championship in Malaysia, that his game is in really good shape at the moment.

The American has previously only won the 2014 European Masters but has already hinted this year, with three top 5 finishes in his 7 starts, that another win could be just around the corner – particularly in this quality of this field. He has course form having finished Tied 9th on his course debut last year and he showed with his 21 birdie haul in Genzon last week that this type of birdie fest should have him licking his lips.
