Copa America football tips – Bolivia vs Peru prediction

Having lost heavily to the hosts Chile in their final group game Bolivia coach Mauricio Soria could make a number of changes for this match. Many of the changes could come in defence, with Miguel Hurtado and Edward Zenteno pushing for a start.

Peru have problems in the midfield area, with both Josepmir Ballón and Carlos Labatón suspended after picking up bookings in their final group match. This could mean starts for Edwin Retamoso and Paulo Albarracín.

Possible Line-ups

Bolivia: 4-4-1-1 formation: Quinonez; Morales, Raldes, Zenteno, Hurtado; Smedbeg-Dalence, Bejarano, Chumacero, Pedriel; Lizio; Moreno

Peru: 4-2-2-2 formation: Gallese; Advincula, Zambrano, Ascues, Vargas; Albarracin, Retamoso; Cueva, Sanchez; Pizarro Guerrero

  • Bolivia have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 6 of their last 10 matches
  • Peru have won 4, drawn 2 and lost 4 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Bolivia have scored an average of 0.9 goals and conceded an average of 2.5 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Peru have scored an average of 0.9 goals and conceded an average of 1 goal per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 7 of Bolivia’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Peru’s previous 10 matches
  • The last time these teams met was in a World Cup 2014 qualifier, the match ended 1-1

Despite coming in to the match in the better form of the two, Peru are missing to key players in their midfield through suspension. How their replacements perform could be key to this result.

This will be a shot in the arm for Bolivia, who need to try and rediscover some confidence following their devastating 5-0 loss to Chile last time out. Improvement at the back is required if Bolivia are to have any hope of progressing.

Neither of these teams are expected to go on and win the 2015 Copa America but the fact they are drawn together here gives both of them a great chance of making the semi-finals. Peru have the experience of doing just that in 2011 and could aim to make a fast start because if Bolivia concede the first goal, they may find it difficult getting back in to the game.

We say: Peru to win and under 2.5 goals at 12/5 with Bet365
