Euro 2016 football tips – Israel vs Belgium prediction

Israel manager Eli Guttmann will have to make do without central defender, Eitan Tibi, who was sent off during the 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Wales. This could see former Celtic player, Rami Gershon start the game in defence. Guttmann could also freshen things up further forward, with Ben Sahar pushing for a start after coming off the bench against Wales.

Belgium manager Marc Wilmots has no injury or suspension worries and is likely to select the same team that brushed Cyprus aside 5-0 on Saturday. That should mean the likes of Thibaut Courtois,Vincent Kompany, Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne will all start.

  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Israel have scored an average of 1.7 goals and conceded an average of 1.8 goal per game.
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Belgium have scored an average of 1.9 goals and conceded an average of 0.3 goals per game.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 8 of Israel’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of Belgium’s previous 10 matches.
  • Belgium remain undefeated since their World Cup exit at the hands of Argentina last July.

Israel were brought back down to earth with a bump by Wales on Saturday, having made a great start to Euro 2016 qualifying Group B. Three wins in a row, up until that point, including a 3-0 home victory over Bosnia, had placed Israel in a strong position but now, with confidence fragile, they need to produce a result against Belgium to stay in contention at the top of the group.

Belgium produced their best performance of Euro 2016 qualifying campaign so far, defeating Cyprus 5-0 at home on Saturday night. After a sluggish start, including a draw away to Bosnia and a 0-0 draw at home to Wales, Belgium finally showed what they were capable of in a comfortable win. Wilmots will know, that a win here will propel Belgium to the top of the group and leave them perfectly placed for the trip to Wales in June.

Following the disappointing 3-0 defeat to Wales, Israel need to get something from this game to realistically stand a chance of qualifying from the group. However, Belgium look in the mood and should come away with the win they need to join Wales at the top of the group.
