Euro 2016 football tips – Israel vs Wales prediction

Chris Coleman will be delighted to call upon striker Sam Vokes for the first time in over a year, as Wales travel to Haifa to take on Israel in a vital Euro 2016 Qualifier. Although unlikely to start, it’s a huge boost to the Welsh team, who have been playing without a top level striker in recent matches. A big loss to Wales will be defender James Chester, who is missing though injury, having played every minute of Euro 2016 qualifying so far.

Israel have included former Swansea City striker, Itay Shechter in their squad for a match that could see them open up a gap at the top of Group B. Manager Eli Guttman, has also included Charlton defender Tal Ben Haim, Celtic’s Nir Bitton and Beram Kayal of Brighton in his squad, alongside a number of players from Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Israel have scored an average of 1.8 goals and conceded an average of 1.6 goal per game.
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Wales have scored an average of 1 goal and conceded an average of 1 goal per game.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 7 of Israel’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Wales’ previous 10 matches.
  • Both teams are undefeated in their last 4 matches.

Israel have started their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign in great style, with 3 wins from 3 games, including a fantastic 3-0 home victory of 2014 World Cup qualifiers, Bosnia. Israel have only lost once at home in their last 6 matches, scoring 11 goals in the process. So far, in the current qualifying campaign, Israel have scored 9 goals and conceded only 2. With a home match against Belgium to follow, Israel will want to take maximum points from this game, in-front of a passionate home crowd.

Like their opponents, Wales have made a good start to the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign. With 2 wins and 2 draws from their opening 4 matches, Chris Coleman’s team are in a good position, especially having made the difficult trip to Belgium. Losing James Chester will be a blow but with the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Joe Allen, Ashley Williams, Joe Ledley, Sam Vokes and Gareth Bale all fit, Wales will feel they have a good chance of getting something from the match.

Israel have struggled at home in the past against teams such as Northern Ireland and Azerbaijan, yet have performed well against Portugal and Bosnia. It’s going to be a close match, with plenty riding on it. The way Israel like to come out and have a go, their could plenty of pace for Wales on the counter-attack, with Ramsey and Bale waiting to punish the home team, if they commit too many men forward.
