Wales take on Serbia in a World Cup qualifying match this Saturday. Read the match predictions to find out why a draw is the betting tip in this Group D match. In the last round of games Wales played out a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Georgia while Serbia came out on top to win 3-2 in a thrilling match with Austria.

Wales vs Serbia Preview

Wales have called up Adam Matthews and Joe Walsh as replacements for injured duo James Collins and Ben Davies. Their omission leaves the hosts light at the back and Paul Dummett could be handed a rare start. Taylor and Gunter will push forward on the flanks with Allen, Ramsey and Ledley in the engine room. Sam Vokes is likely to partner Gareth Bale in attack.

Serbia are set to welcome Chelsea star Nemanja Matic back into the midfield with either Luka Milivojevic or Nemanja Gudelj dropping to the bench. Aleksandar Kolarov and Antonio Rukavina are the wide men who may have to track back when Wales go on the attack. Up-front, Newcastle’s Aleksandar Mitrovic will lead the line.

Team Predictions Wales vs Serbia

Wales 5-3-2 formation: Hennessey; Taylor, Dummett, Williams, Chester, Gunter; Ledley, Ramsay, Allen; Bale, Vokes

Serbia 3-4-3 formation: Stojkovic; Mitrovic, Nastasic, Ivanovic; Kolarov, Milivojevic, Matic, Rukavina; Kostic, Mitrovic, Tadic

Wales vs Serbia Prediction

Wales made light work of Moldova when winning 4-0 at home in their opening match. The Dragons then produced a hard-working performance in the absence of Aaron Ramsey to draw 2-2 away at Austria but the draw against Georgia was truly disappointing. Chris Coleman will be asking his players to be more clinical in this match.

Serbia played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at home to Republic of Ireland to get their qualification process underway. They never got out of second gear when cruising to a 0-3 win in Moldova but had to pull out all of the stops to get the win against Austria.

With Wales tending to use attacking full-backs and Serbia preferring a back 3, this has the makings of an end to end game. I’m expecting an open contest and a few goals in this one. Neither side has been beaten in the qualification process so far and that may still be the case at the end of 90 minutes here.
