Spanish La Liga preview – Barcelona vs Levante prediction

Caludio Bravo should be out of action for few more weeks which means Marc-Andre ter Stegen will continue in the goal. Gerard Pique is serving the final match of his four-game ban. Thomas Vermaelen is side-lined through injury. Rafinha will join long term absentees Douglas and Dani Alves.

For the away side, David Navarro has been passed fit. But, there is very little probability of any change to their central defensive options. Simeo is set to sit out of the third match of the ban. The only absentee because of injury is Ivan Lopez for the visitors

Possible Line-ups

Barcelona: 4-3-3 formation: ter Stegen; Alba, Mathieu, Mascherano, Roberto; Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta; Neymar, Suarez, Messi

Levavnte: 3-5-2 formation: Martinez, Feddal, Trujillio, Juan Fran; Tono, Camarasa, Verza, Mari, Lopez; Ghilas, Deyverson

Statistics

  • Barcelona have scored at least 4 goals in their last 4 matches against Levante in all competitions
  • Barcelona won 9 of their last 10 matches in La Liga
  • Barcelona kept a clean sheet in 5 of their last 6 home matches in La Liga
  • Levante failed to score in 5 of their last 7 away matches in La Liga
  • Levante failed to win their last 7 matches in La Liga

Prediction

Barcelona haven’t hit their stride yet but have won all of three games in La Liga this season. The narrow margin victories over Athletic Club, Malaga and Atletico Madrid put them 2 points clear at the top. Though the injuries continue to mount, there is enough depth in the Blaugrana squad to brush aside the visitors easily.

Levante are yet to strike any rhythm in their game this season with only two goals from the three games so far. The visitors are not known to be good travellers and will find it mighty difficult to pinch a point against the defending champions. The corresponding fixture last season ended 5-0 in favour of Barcelona.

Lionel Messi and Barcelona are yet to reach the usual lofty standards they set for themselves. But, the visitors do not have the depth to share the spoils. Expect the home side to win comfortably.
