La Liga preview – Eibar vs Las Palmas prediction.

Dani Garcia returns for Eibar following his one-game suspension which should see Josip Radosevic drop back to the bench. Ivan Ramis is back in training following a hamstring strain and will push Jon Ansotegi for a place in the centre of defence if he proves his fitness. Borjan Baston failed to score for the first time in 8 league games last weekend but Sergi Enrich will have to wait a little longer to reclaim his place in the starting lineup. Antonio Luna is working his way back to full fitness but is doubtful to be ready in time for Friday’s game and Keko remains a week or more away from making his comeback.

Las Palmas midfielder Wakaso Mubarak returns from suspension and will compete with Momo for a place on the left wing. Full backs David Simon and Dani Castellana are racing against time as they near recovery from recent injuries with David Garcia and Javier Garrido expected to continue providing cover. Striker Sergio Araujo was laid low with illness last weekend and may have to settle for a place on the bench after Willian Jose scored against Barcelona. Midfielders Hernan and Javi Castellano remain sidelined.

Las Palmas 4-1-4-1 formation: Varas; Garcia, Artiles, Bigas, Garrido; Mesa; El Zhar, Tana, Viera, Momo; Willian

Prediction

Eibar have been punching above their weight and hopes of qualifying for Europe have taken a knock after losing four of the last five games in La Liga to slip to 7th in the table. Jose Mendilibar will be glad to get the support of the home crowd where his side has won four of the last five and only lost 3 of 12 league games this season. In the past month, Eibar have defeated bottom-of-the-table Granada 5-1 and 19th placed Levante 2-0 at Ipurua.

Las Palmas have slipped back into the relegation zone following a promising run after the winter break had raised hopes of survival. One win in the last eight sees Quique Setien’s team three points adrift from safety and desperate for a change in fortune. Las Palmas have picked up just 3 points away from home this season while conceding over 2 goals per game.

Eibar have so far played and defeated 7 of the bottom 8 sides at home which makes for a convincing argument to back them to beat Las Palmas this weekend.
