La Liga preview – Getafe vs Real Betis prediction.

Getafe defender Alexis missed Monday’s victory against Sporting Gijon with a sprained ankle and is hopeful of recovering in time for the visit of Betis on Saturday. Midfielder Alvaro Medran will be sidelined for another month to give time for his broken shinbone to heal. If coach Fran Escriba continues to rotate his centre forwards, Alvaro Vazquez will come in for Stefan Scepovic.

Real Betis have concerns about a number of first choice players. Defenders Bruno Gonzalez and Heiko Westermann were sidelined for the 4-0 defeat against Eibar on Sunday and are doubtful starters this weekend. A decision will be made about full back Francisco Molinero and midfielder Dani Ceballos nearer to kick off.

Possible Line-ups

Getafe: 4-2-3-1 formation: Guaita; Suarez, Vergini, Juan Cala, Lago; J Rodriguez, Lacen; Pedro, V Rodriguez, Sarabia; Scepovic

Real Betis: 4-2-3-1 formation: Caballero; Piccini, Molinero, Figueras, Varela; Petros, N;Diaye; Cejudo, Ceballos, Joaquin; Castro

  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Getafe’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of Real Betis’ previous 10 matches

Prediction

Getafe bid to extend their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions. Escriba’s men were not involved in Copa Del Rey action in midweek, being eliminated by Real Sociedad in the previous round despite winning the second leg 3-1. Getafe defeated Sporting Gijon 2-1 in Gijon on Monday after playing a draw in three previous league games. Getafe have a solid home record with Barcelona the only the team to take three points from the Coliseum so far this season.

Pepe Mel is struggling to find an answer to his team’s problems and the prospect of fielding a makeshift back four won’t help his situation on Saturday. Betis have not won for six games and have been resoundly beaten in the three games since the Christmas break. The 4-0 defeat in Barcelona was heavier than expected while losing at home to Eibar by the same score gives a measure of the problems facing Mel. Sevilla had little difficulty in taking a first leg advantage in the Copa Del Rey winning 2-0 at Betis on Wednesday.

Getafe have not been sparing to out of form teams visiting the Coliseum and can beat Betis by a convincing margin.
