La Liga preview – Rayo Vallecano vs Getafe prediction.

Rayo Vallecano will be without central defender Jose Castro and midfielder Adri Embarba who will both serve a one-match ban. Diego Llorente returns from suspension and could join Jose Crespo at centre back for the relegation six-pointer against Getafe on Friday. Jozabed Sanchez is hoping to receive the all-clear on an ankle injury that has kept him out for five weeks while the international break has given left winger Piti the chance to recover from the stomach injury that curtailed his involvement in the last match against Granada.

Getafe centre-back Emiliano Velazquez is doubtful after his second half substitution against Eibar with hamstring strain. Right back Carlos Vigaray could put pressure on Damian Suarez as he recovers from a sprained ankle and left back Roberto Lago is close to a comeback having missed two months with a rib injury.

Possible Line-ups

Rayo Vallecano 4-2-3-1 formation: Carlos; Tito, Llorente, Crespo, Martinez; Trashorras, Iturra; Bebe, Piti, Hernandez; Fedor

Getafe 4-4-2 formation: Guaita; Suarez, Virgini, Cala, Pereira; Sarabia, Rodriquez, Lacen, Gomez; Scepovic, Vazquez

  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Rayo Vallecano have scored an average of 1.8 goals and conceded an average of 1.8 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Getafe have scored an average of 0.4 goals and conceded an average of 2.4 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 8 of Rayo Vallecano’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Getafe’s previous 10 matches

Prediction

Rayo Vallecano’s defeat against Barcelona earlier this month is the only loss in the last seven home games.  Paco Jamez’ side has drawn too many games recently, eight so far in 2016, but have recorded home wins against Celta Vigo and Las Palmas in the last two months.  Rayo go into the game following back-to-back draws at home to Eibar and away to Granada.

Getafe have been in free fall since mid-January and face the prospect of relegation unless they can turn results around soon. Fran Escriba’s men lost seven games on the bounce before getting a draw at home to Sevilla earlier this month. They conceded a late goal to share the points with Eibar in the Coliseum in their most recent game but have lost the last five on the road and have failed to score in the last four.

Rayo need to convert more of their draws into wins and the visit of struggling Getafe provides the ideal opportunity.
