La Liga football tips – Rayo Vallecano vs Valencia prediction

Rayo Vallecano only have one player unavailable for their first match of the new season, with Adrian Embarba on the injury list. There should be a few new faces in the team this season, with Bebe, brought in on loan, operating just behind the loan frontman, Manucho. Patrick Ebert is back at the club and should feature on the right side of a midfield five.

Valencia have anything but a full squad to choose from and are without Daniel Perejo, Jose Gaya and Sofiane Feghouli due to suspension. Furthermore, Andre Gomes and Diego Alves are both out through injury, meaning a La Liga debut in goal for Mat Ryan, who played in the Champions League play-off against Monaco in mid-week. There is also the obvious loss of defender Nicolas Otamendi, for manager Nuno Santo to deal with.

Possible Line-ups

Rayo Vallecano: 4-2-3-1 formation: Tono; Tito, Amaya, Castro, Nacho; Trashorras, Baena; Ebert, Bebe, Lass; Manucho

Valencia: 4-3-3 formation: Ryan; Vezo, Mustafi, Orban, Cancelo; Enzo Pérez, Javi Fuego, Paul; Piatti, Rodrigo, Alcacer

  • Rayo Vallecano have won 5, drawn 2 and lost 3 of their last 10 matches
  • Valencia have won 5, drawn 2 and lost 3 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Rayo Vallecano have scored an average of 1.2 goals and conceded an average of 1.6 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Valencia have scored an average of 1.4 goals and conceded an average of 1.1 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Rayo Vallecano’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Valencia’s previous 10 matches
  • Rayo have defeated Valencia just once in their last 7 games

Rayo have lost some players during the summer, some of which were key ingredients in their team last season and will be missed. The loss of Alberto Bueno’s goals will hurt them and Manucho has got a big job on his hands to replicate the 17 scored by the outgoing striker last season. Having conceded 68 goals last season, Rayo will have to improve defensively or they could have a relegation battle on their hands.

Valencia have to deal with the loss of key central defender Nicolas Otamendi, who has left to join Manchester City. There are also a number of players either suspended or injured for this match, who would probably have started, so it will be interesting to see how Valencia cope without these players. The form of Paco Alcacer could be vital this season, if Valencia are to challenge at the top of La Liga.

Both games ended in a draw last season and with Valencia having one eye on their trip to Monaco in the week, this could be another score draw.

We say: Draw and both teams to score at 10/3 with Bet365
