Liga BBVA football tips – Real Madrid vs Betis prediction

Real Madrid unceremoniously let legend goalkeeper Iker Casillas leave for Porto this summer and signed Kiko Casilla as a replacement. The midfield has had a reshuffle too, with Asier Illarramendi going back to Real Sociedad and Sami Khedira swaping Madrid for Turin. Two young talents – Mateo Kovacic and Casemiro, have signed in their places. Karim Benzema looks set to return to the squad after a thigh injury.

Betis were promoted to the Liga BBVA after finishing top of the Segunda División last season. This was massively down to striker Rubén Castro who netted a huge 32 league goals. His striker partner Jorge Molina also contributed with 19 of his own, indicating that Betis might just have the firepower to stay up this season. They have strengthened at the back with the signings of Germán Pezzella and Cristiano Piccini who started in the first league game of the season.

Possible Line-ups

Real Madrid: 4-2-1-3 formation: Navas; Marcelo, Ramos, Varane, Danilo; Kroos, Modric; James Rodríguez; Jesé, Ronaldo, Bale

Betis: 4-4-2 formation: Adan; Vargas, Cabrera, Pezzella, Piccini; Portillo, N’Diaye, Torres, Cejudo; Castro, Molina

  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Real Madrid’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Betis’ previous 10 matches
  • Real Madrid thrashed Betis 5-0 during their last meeting, back in January 2014. Madrid have won just less than 50% of their total meetings with Betis

Prediction

After an average performance and a 0-0 draw on the opening day, Real will be looking to kick their season off with a convincing win against a newly promoted team. Benzema may not be fit enough to start, but his inclusion within the squad will give confidence to Ronaldo in particular given that the two link up so well.

If Castro and Molina find their scoring form of last season Betis should be fine this season, although a trip to the Bernabeu will never be straight forward. They conceded a lot of goals last season for a team who won the division, so they will hope that the new recruitments in defence help to sort that out.

A Real Madrid victory looks like the only probable outcome in this match. If the likes of Ronaldo, Bale and James start to click then it could be an emphatic win.

We say: Cristiano Ronaldo to score first and Real Madrid to win at 12/5 with Bet365
