Sevilla take on Celta Vigo in a live La Liga match this Thursday night. Read the match predictions to find out why a home win is the betting tip at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán. Sevilla won 2-0 at home to Granada in their last match and will be looking to back that up with another victory here. Meanwhile Celta Vigo slipped to a 0-1 defeat at home to Real Betis and this looks an even tougher task.
Sevilla vs Celta Vigo Preview
Sevilla will again be without long-term absentees Benoît Trémoulinas and Michael Krohn-Dehli while doubts around the fitness of Samir Nasri should see Vicente Iborra feature in the centre of midfield. Pablo Sarabia will be deployed on the left-flank, with Vitolo still nursing a muscle problem. Stevan Jovetic will be the focal point of attack for the hosts and can be a real handful for defenders.
Celta Vigo have Marcelo Díaz suspended, so Pablo Hernandez and Nemanja Radoja will form a double-pivot in midfield. With Giuseppe Rossi out injured, John Guidetti is expected to get the nod ahead of Claudio Beauvue as the lone striker. Rubén Blanco and Carles Planas are also out injured for the visiting side, further limiting the options of Eduardo Berizzo.

Sevilla vs Celta Vigo Prediction
Sevilla sit fourth in La liga but after last night’s shock defeat for Atletico Madrid, the door is open for third and they can put the pressure on with a win. They’re unbeaten in three matches, with a 0-0 draw away to Valencia between home wins over Deportivo La Coruna and Granada. Moving level on points with Atletico is a huge carrot for the hosts and I can see them putting a shift in to try and get the job done.
Celta Vigo are a likeable side but have really struggled with fixture congestion on the back of their Europa League exploits. Having got the job done against Genk they certainly looked leggy at home to Real Betis and come into this game with little recovery time. Their travelling form is also a concern, having lost three of their last six on the road in La Liga.
Sevilla have kept a clean sheet in five of their last seven home matches in La Liga. Celta Vigo are an attacking side but I can see the hosts keeping them at bay here. Sevilla are undefeated in ten league games at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán and can win this match by keeping their opponents at arms-length.

Spanish La Liga preview – Sevilla vs Celta Vigo prediction
Unai Emery will still be missing Nico Pareja, Daniel Carrico and Adil Rami. Joining them on the injury list would be Beto. This means Sergio Rico will start under the bars and Marco Andreolli will continue in defence. Fernando Llorente could have another game leading the attack.
For the visitors, Ruben Blanco is a confirmed absentee while there is a cloud of uncertainty on the availability of Andreu Fontas (Achilles problem). If Fontas isn’t available, Sergi Gomez could deputize in the back four. The coach Eduardo Berizzo should be happy with the start of his team and will resist making any changes.
Possible Line-ups
Sevilla: 4-2-3-1 formation: Rico; Tremoulinas, Andreolli, Kolodziejczak, Coke; Krychowiak, Iborra; Vitolo, Banega, Reyes; Llorente
Celta Vigo: 4-3-3 formation: Alvarez; Jonny, Fontas, Cabral, Mallo; Wass, Fernandez, Hernandez; Nolito, Aspas, Orellana
Statistics
- Sevilla have seen under 2.5 goals in 8 of their last 9 home matches against Celta Vigo in all competitions
- Celta Vigo are undefeated in their last 8 matches in La Liga
- Celta Vigo scored at least 2 goals in their last 4 matches in La Liga
- Over 2.5 goals have been scored in Sevilla’s last 3 home matches in La Liga
- Over 2.5 goals have been scored in Celta Vigo’s last 4 games in La Liga
Prediction
Unai Emery’s men were one of the pre-season underdogs but didn’t start the season well. They are still without a win but have draws with Levante and Malaga as well as a loss to Atletico Madrid. But, they got a shot in the arm during the midweek with a 3-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League group stage.
The visitors, on the other hand, are high flying in the league continuing from where they left last season. But, in their last match against newly promoted Las Palmas, Celta threw away a 3-1 lead to finish with a draw.
The Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium was a citadel for Sevilla through the last season. Emery would love to bring that fear back to their opponents. This could just prove to be the new beginning for the season for Sevilla. Expect the home team to win this game, though Celta Vigo is in red hot form.
