Arsenal have plenty of injuries to contend with but will still be able to field a quality starting XI. Per Mertesacker, Danny Welbeck, Chuba Akpom and Lucas Perez are all injured while Santi Cazorla, Theo Walcott, Kieran Gibbs, Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal have fitness to prove. Aaron Ramsey should get in ahead of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the right and despite his good form, Olivier Giroud could be used as an impact sub.

Tottenham are forced into a change, as Moussa Sissoko serves the final game of his three-match ban. Mauricio Pochettino has fitness concerns over Toby Alderweireld, Harry Kane, Mousa Dembele and Erik Lamela with the latter the most likely to feature. Danny Rose could come back in at left-back and Vincent Janssen is expected to lead the line in Kane’s absence.

Their last home game was a comfortable 2-0 success over Reading in the EFL Cup, before they thrashed Sunderland 1-4 away in the Premier League. The Gunners had a bit of a wobble when going 2 goals down away to Ludogorets but showed great character to come back and win, so come into this on a high.

Tottenham made a real statement when beating Manchester City but have gone 6 games without success since that 2-0 win. There’s a serious lack of goals at the moment with the likes of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli unable to chip in and help ease the burden on new recruit Vincent Janssen. Spurs were recently knocked out of the EFL Cup after a 2-1 loss to Liverpool before drawing 1-1 with leicester and their latest Champions league setback will have further dampened the mood.

Arsenal have won 7 of their last 8 Premier League matches and are undefeated in their last 6 home matches against Tottenham in all competitions. Spurs looked out of ideas against Bayer Leverkusen and are difficult to back on that evidence. North London derbies rarely disappoint for entertainment value, so I’m tipping Arsenal to win by the odd goal in three.
